Popular Hotwife Books Author Kenny Wright – New Interview!

Popular hotwife books can be hard to find, but not anymore. In tonight’s interview series, I have the pleasure of re-introducing popular hotwife books author, Kenny Wright!

Kenny graciously agreed to appear in my erotic author interview series a few years ago, where we discussed Fifty Shades of Grey and his latest hotwife book at the time, Training to Love It 2. Since that time Kenny has released a few titles, then took some time off. What did he do during his time away from publishing new popular hotwife books? That is the topic of tonight’s interview.

Once again, Kenny Wright…

It’s been over a year since you released a new title, and we’re happy to see you’re back with a brand new series! Have you been working on this series exclusively the past year, or were you writing other project in different genres?

I can’t believe that it’s been over a year. As I was updating my website and making sure that my last book, Rose Blooms, was up where it should be, it was surprising to see the 2018 year on it. No, I haven’t been working on this book series exclusively, which is part of the reason it’s taken so long to get it out.

While Bull’s Eye has been my primary focus, I’ve been dabbling in other stories and book ideas. They’ve all been in the hotwife genre. I don’t have other pen names out there. I’m just not a very focused writer, which gets me into trouble. Fans know that I’ve got an undercover-themed book in the works. I have a few others cooking, and may bundle some of the shorter stuff into an anthology.

What inspired the concept for your new book, Bull’s Eye: Discovering the Hotwife Fantasy?
I’m always looking for a way to mix up the genre. It’s easy to fall into a tried-and-true structure with any genre writing. I also like to challenge myself with a hard concept and see if I can make it exciting for me. Annie’s Affair, for example, was one of the most challenging things I’ve written to date.
I’ve written so many books from the husband’s perspective, and a few that also show what’s going on in the wife’s head. The other man, or the “bull”, is an area that I haven’t tried. Way back in the day, when I was writing Because He’s Watching with Kirsten McCurran, Kirsten challenged me to consider Ray’s point-of-view. He’s not just a stunt c-ck. He’s got his own motivations and desires, and he can get frustrated at times. I guess ever since then, I’ve wanted to see if I could do a whole book from the other man’s perspective.

How many books are in this series?
There are five books in total for this series. Four have been written and edited. The fifth is in progress.

Did you plot out the full series before you set down to write the first title?
Ha. No. I don’t know that I ever have the series fully plotted out. That would suck out the fun of writing it. I did have a general idea of the overall structure, though, with planned out milestones, or “beats” as I guess some writers call them. I knew where it would end up, just not the specifics of how I was going to get there.

Your main character,Paul Sharpe, is a bit of a James Bond bad boy, but still a likable guy. Was he easier to write than some of your past female characters?
Again, no. I’m not an alpha male in real life, so it wasn’t easy to step into Paul’s shoes. In my early drafts, Paul was a bit of a caricature—maybe he still is, somewhat! I played into that, though, and I think that over the course of this series, we see a lot more to him than just a “James Bond bad boy.”

I was surprised to find this show up in humorous erotica… was that intentional? Do you think this is a more humorous read than some of your previous work?
Yeah, that’s weird. Amazon is funny about how it categorizes things. I wouldn’t say this one is any more funny than my other books, but the overall structure of the series veers towards a romcom, so maybe that’s how it landed there.

In Bull’s Eye, without giving things away, Paul encounters married couples who he discovers are into the hotwife lifestyle. Do you think this type of arrangement happens all the time in real life? Or are stories such as this and others you’ve penned purely fantasy?
I couldn’t say, honestly. This is an area where I took a lot of creative liberty. A common trope in hotwife fiction is for the wife to go to a bar and get hit on by guys. I figured that was a solid place to start this book in—only we see things through that other man’s eyes.

Care to give us any teaser for the remainder of the series?
Hmmm… no, not at this point. Sorry! Haha.

You’ve been at this for nearly a decade, and perhaps longer. Looking back to your first book in 2012, how has the hotwife genre changed?
I think that the genre has matured a lot since I started writing in this space. There are some really great authors of popular hotwife books out there now. It’s a good place to be if you’re into this genre. There are also a lot of amateurs, though, so it can be a little overwhelming to separate the quality popular hotwife books from stuff that should probably be free and up on a site like Literotica. I’m always on the lookout for good recommendations, though.

How has self-published erotica changed overall?
Complicated question—one in which there’s a much more informed community than me. I’m not going to even try to answer that one.

You’ve collaborated with several other authors of popular hotwife books, with compilations and such. Do you lead all these efforts?
I probably initiate them, but I certainly don’t lead the actual writing of the book. They’ve all been a collaborative experience. We discuss what our goals are for the books, and then pass the writing back and forth (in most cases). For Annie’s Affair, that was a bit more involved, with Kirsten writing the diary entries.

Are you working on any current projects with other authors?
I actually am! I’ve got a fairly long book going with Ben Boswell that we’ve been working on for the last year or so, and one that’s just started up with Max Sebastian.

Where do you find most of your readers these days? Are you solely on Amazon, or have you been finding fans on Apple, or Kobo or any other areas?
Oh, definitely Amazon. Amazon still commands the biggest marketshare around. I do make my books available on as many platforms as I can, though, because not everyone has a Kindle (or wants to tie their names to the big corporation).

Any last things we should know about Kenny?
I’m always writing, even if I’m not publishing (or blogging or tweeting). But in addition to that, I’ve got a full-time job that I enjoy, a wife and two kids at home who are growing up, and too many other hobbies to be sustainable at all.

Point is, I’ve got a full life, but I’m not burned out on any of it. I’ve never taken a hiatus from “Kenny Wright,” and I don’t plan to stop at any point. Thanks to everyone for being patient, and hopefully I’ll be able to wrap a lot of these projects up and get them into your hands more quickly.

How can readers find out more about your work?
So there’s my main site, kennywriter.com, which is going through a messy redesign (it was built on an aging platform that I needed to update, which then broke everything). I’m also on www.hotwifebooks.com. If you want the most up-to-date news, follow me on Twitter (@kennywriter). And of course I’m at all major online bookstores.

Thank you again to erotica author Kenny Wright for taking the time to catch us up on his latest work. Be sure to check out Bull’s Eye View series now!
